Sokerol prevents serious contamination of the River Thames
Mackley, a UK construction company, regularly uses Sokerol as its preferred decontaminant. The company was recently involved in the creation of a new structure on the Molesey Paddle and Rymer weir, an extensive and well established complex located on the River Thames near Hampton Court Palace.
The construction of this £4 million project was all water-based and barges were used to transport a crane and power generators. Marine booms were put in place as a preventative measure in case of any spillage from the barges.
When one of the barges capsized and began to discharge fuel into the river Thames, the crew at Mackley used Sokerol to soak up the contaminant. As Sokerol rejects water in favour of hydrocarbons, the operators were able to remove the waste from the river without causing any environmental damage. Furthermore, after being treated by Sokerol, the site was inspected by the UK Environment Agency, who declared the previously contaminated area to be clean with ‘no further action required’. A great result for Sokerol and the environment.
